Meet Elizabeth Brickman

I suppose the seeds were sown for my future career when I was a young child.  Here’s my story:

When I was eight years old, a traumatic financial event occurred that caused my wealthy parents to lose everything we had — our wealth, our possessions and even our home.

I knew how it felt to be rich.  I soon learned how it felt to be poor.

Even the best of parents like mine may not always realize the impact of finances on sensitive children.  I remember feelings of financial  trauma, fear, and confusion.  Even panic.  Everything was taken away:  My house.  My school.  My piano.  My dolls.  And when it seemed there was nothing left to surrender, my beloved dog was taken.  My parents were devastated. I felt helpless.  It was a very tough time for us all.

My adult life is a testament to God’s miraculous grace to restore “all that the locusts had taken”.  I’m now celebrating 20 years with my beloved husband.   We have three beautiful shelties (1 in heaven).  Family, friends, clients who feel like family.  Meaningful work.  I am blessed!

In gratitude, with a passion that originates from the deepest center of my being, I want to help you to build, sustain and grow wealth wisely, preserve and spend rightly, and give generously from your harvest.

I want you to live the wonderful and full life God intended for you — with no interruptions.

My professional credentials and certifications are as follows:

I am a Certified Financial Planner, College For Financial Planning, Denver, Co.  and a Registered Investment Advisor in the states of Florida and Texas.

I am a Registered Life Planner, and a Qualified Kingdom Advisor.  (Please see more about those credentials elsewhere on the site).

I am a Registered Securities Principal, registered in 17 states.

I have earned the following Securities registrations: Series 6, Series 7, Series 24, Series 26, Series 65, and insurance 215 for life, health and annuities.

I am President and founder of The Caring Advisor, Inc., with a staff of talented and devoted professionals, whose office suite is within our own 12,000 sq. ft. office building in Miami Lakes, Fl.

I’ve been in financial services now for over 20 years, and I have clients all across America.

I began in the 1980’s as a tax advisor and preparer, founding my first beloved company, Tax Facts, to prepare tax returns in St Augustine, Fl.  for clients I dearly loved.  Having moved to South Florida in 1991 to attend my grandmother in her last months of life, I quickly built my financial planning clientele alongside my successful tax business.  I eventually (with regret!) sold Tax Facts in 1995, after my financial planning business (then called Advantage Financial Planning) grew rapidly too large for me to continue to prepare tax returns.   (How I loved preparing tax returns for my clients!  The reason I initially studied financial planning in the 1980’s was as response to requests from my beloved tax clients to help them with their investments.)

My brother (and mentor) has been a financial advisor for over 30 years, in private practice in New York, and my mother has been a tax preparer for over 40 years.

I have served the professional financial planning community by serving on the Board of Directors of Institute of Certified Financial Planners (ICFP), as Director of Ethics from 1995 to 2000.   I am past President Elect of ICFP, South Florida, 2001.

During this period, it was my pleasure to facilitate the annual required Ethics classes to my fellow certified financial planners in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.

I’ve taught a special high school Financial Planning program to teachers and department heads in Dade and Broward counties as volunteer through International Association of Financial Planners (IAFP) and taught a special financial program to gifted kids at a private high school.

I’ve been frequently quoted in financial press and for a time, I appeared on business/financial news radio in Ft Lauderdale, Fl.

I have been a longtime mentor and coach for colleagues and young financial advisors.

In 1996, I was commissioned by Oppenheimer Funds to help write a book, “A Woman’s Guide to Investing”.  Oh, how honored I was to have been one of only two certified financial planners (CFP®s) in the country to take on what was then a ground-breaking project.
